Problems with photo sensing and motion sensing lights are one of the most frequent electrical service calls we receive. Other common problems include those associated with GFCIs (ground fault circuit interrupters) that shut down a portion or all of the protected circuit. Replacement of nuisance tripping GFCI breaker or receptacle many times resolves the problem. However, if there is a fault to ground, locating this problem becomes more involved. See pic #1.
Adding or replacing wiring, boxes, switches and receptacles is easy during a remodel project when the framing is exposed. The project can be more involved if plaster or sheetrock is in place. See pic #2. The cost to repair the wall, prime and match the wall paint can cost as much as the electrical work alone. So try and include all of your electrical needs while the remodeling project is underway.
